Beach Boys "The Very Best Of..." EMI/ Capitol 2001 Well, the Beach Boys: Thirty tracks, most of the favourites. Need I say more? Okay, I will. This is a very hit-focused, commercial package. They would probably have been better off calling it "Greatest Hits" than "Best Of" because Beach Boys fans can undoubtedly point to more developed, better stuff among their album tracks and later work. There is an emphasis toward the earlier years here, too. But whether or not this really does justice to the Beach Boys or not is irrelevant; you couldn't do that on one CD, although there is a less obvious "best of" with the tracks personally selected by Brian Wilson which you might want to consider. Anyway, all you really need to know is that these seminal works are totally timeless and you really have no excuse for not owning this unless you have a very good collection of other Beach Boys stuff.
